Tokyo Olympics: Dina Asher-Smith pulls out of 200m after hamstring tear

 British world champion Dina AsherSmith withdrew from the 200m Olympics after revealing her hamstring fracture earlier this month.

The 25-year-old was injured at the British Championships and failed to reach the 100m final in Tokyo after running 11.05 seconds in the semi-finals last Saturday.

Asher-Smith told BBC Sports in tears: “This breaks my heart because I am a competitor. This is the Olympics, but there are many other champions for me to kill.” Click Here For Read More...

He said that he had been in “the state of his life” but was injured after winning the 100m national championships in Manchester in June in the 60m, and almost missed the Olympics.

He did not decide to go to Tokyo to participate in the competition until he obtained a second medical opinion on the severity of the tear.
